Titan Apex acrylic cold plunge tub with chiller in black

Cold Plunge Buying Guide

Shopping for a cold plunge can feel like comparing apples, barrels and inflatable pods all at once. I put this guide together so you can narrow the field quickly, using only the specs our manufacturers publish. If anything here leaves you unsure, call us at (855) 975-6272 and we will talk it through with you.

1. Pick a tub style

  • Acrylic tubs (Titan Apex, Revive Acrylic, Cryo Innovations "WINDOW") give you a rigid, furniture-like finish and are the easiest to wipe clean.
  • Barrel tubs (Titan Atlas and Summit, Dynamic Cold Therapy PVC and 304 stainless steel barrels) are upright, take up a small footprint and suit a patio or garage corner. Several come with cedar trim.
  • Inflatable tubs (Titan Triumph and Triumph XL, Revive Inflatable Barrel and Pod) are the lightest and easiest to move or store, and are a common starting point for a first plunge.
  • All-in-one tubs (AMBOHR All-in and Armor All-in, MedEq stainless steel and wood plunge pools) build the chiller into the tub, so there is no separate unit to place and plumb.

2. Check the water volume

Listed capacities vary widely, from roughly 100 gallons in compact tubs to about 285 gallons in the Titan Triumph XL. More water means more room to stretch out, but it also takes longer to chill and needs a chiller sized to match.

3. Match the chiller to the tub

Chillers we carry run from 0.3 HP (Revive Nova) through 0.8 HP and 1 HP (Revive Core and Apex, AMBOHR Mini, Pro and Ultra, Dynamic Cold Therapy) up to 2 HP and 3 HP options in some Titan bundles. Many reach a listed low of about 37°F, and several also heat the water, with Dynamic and Titan units listing up to around 85°F. Larger tubs and warmer climates generally call for more horsepower. Wi-Fi app control is available on Revive and Dynamic Cold Therapy models.

4. Plan for power and placement

Most chillers we list run on a standard 110/120V outlet. Check the spec table on each product page, keep the chiller in a covered, ventilated spot, and plan for a drain path when you change the water.

5. Budget for upkeep

Filters, a skimmer net and a cover make day-to-day care much easier. Revive sells a Starter Kit, NSF 50 certified filter packs and a composite chiller enclosure if you want everything to match.
